We Made It!
We landed in Auckland at 6am this morning after our 13 hour flight from San Francisco. The in-flight entertainment system kept us occupied and the time flew by. We missed our flight to Christchurch because the customs officer needed to clean our dirty hiking boots, but were quickly booked on the next flight. Our homestay hosts, Trevor & Adrienne, greeted us at the airport and drove us to their beautiful home in Christchurch. After taking a much needed shower, we explored downtown Christchurch. Here's Patrick in the street on the way to Cathedral square. As you can see, it is a very windy day. The weather is beautiful and we are both thrilled that we have begun our month-long journey without too much hassle. We hope to write again soon.

Vallie says, "Looks like you are having a great time and wish I was there, too! Have fun, and hope to see you when you get back." P.S. Thanks for pointing me to your website and pictures of my grandbabies at Christmas!
Glad you made it safely. Have a great time, and keep the pictures coming, it's the closet thing the rest of us get to southern hemisphere experience!!! Stay safe safe, and we miss you!
I looked at your photo gallery. You're not fooling anyone, you know. You obviously haven't even left the US. Because it's common knowledge that New Zealand is populated by dwarves, elves, and hobbits. Where are they pictured?
Fine, I'll go along with your little ruse. Have fun in "New Zealand", or as it's more commonly known... Portland.
