Days Nine & Ten - Queenstown
We spent these past two days recovering from our bike trip and preparing for our next adventure - the Routeburn Track. The track will take us 3 days to complete. Queenstown is a very fun town to visit after so many days on the road. It is quite a resort. There are hundreds of tourist activities--rafting, bungy jumping, frogging, canyoning, jet boating, parabungy, parasailing, hang gliding, horseback riding, you name it. Instead of indulging in one of these many diversions (most of which are pretty pricey) we headed to the local spa for massages and facial treatments. We needed a little tender loving care after so many days on the road. We booked some of the transport and lodging we will need for the next week and picked up our hut tickets that we will need for our walk. We shopped at the local camping stores to buy dried foods to eat and the supermarket for food to eat in our room that also has a kitchenette. This morning after breakfast we caught the highlights of a great cricket match (I think we finally understand the rules) between South Africa and Australia. We have had plenty of time to enjoy some of the local cafes and restaurants. We hope to go lawn bowling on the shores of the lake this afternoon.
