Day Three - Methven to Geraldine.
We slept in a bit this morning due to the fact that our planned ride was a bit shorter and lot less difficult. Only 80km. We had a wonderful breakfast at the B&B and then went outside to feed the hand-raised deer and enjoy the farm scenery. They devoured a whole package of biscuits in less than a minute. The farm also had sheep, a Danish white deer, a farm dog and a huge herd of deer that don't hang around humans. The weather was much better today and we began to see large mountains in the distance. After a picnic lunch in Mayfield, we cruised into Geraldine at around 4pm. The village was beautiful and we had a great dinner in a local cafe. We think the food was good, but after a full day of cycling just about anything tastes delicious. We ate dinner with an Englishman who is cycling around New Zealand just like us. Unlike us, he is 72 years old. Patrick and I figured out that if you add our ages together we are as old as he. What an inspiration. I hope that we are still doing this when we are 72!
