We had over 110km to ride today. The real tough part of the ride was a 30km climb to over 930 meters at Lindis Pass. The weather was on our side. Very little wind and cloud cover to keep things cool made the ride to the top long, but fairly painless. We also think that we are getting a bit more fit! We celebrated at the top of Lindis Pass and enjoyed the view of the valleys on either side. Then the fun part. We were rewarded with a screaming downhill ride (Patrick topped 60km/hour!) for the next 10-15km. The climb was worth it. We pushed ourselves to reach 80km before stopping for lunch in the hope that we might avoid the dreaded afternoon wind. We stopped in a cute little town called Tarras which had a great little cafe for tea and cookies after lunch. After lunch we had just another 30km to our final destination of Cromwell. The last 20km was a beautiful ride along Lake Dunstan. We made it through our toughest day!
We ended up at another great B&B (all of our lodgings have been great!) and another pasta place. Patrick had pizza and Bonney had, of course, spaghetti!
