We got up this morning a bit early for my taste in order to ride in the Portland Bridge Pedal. On one Sunday in August, the city of Portland closes most of the bridges in town to traffic and lets the bikers take over. There were over 18,000 riders of all shapes and sizes riding with us today. We did a 24 miles ride over 8 of the city's bridges. The weather was great and the ride was beautiful. We are certainly adding it to our yearly calendar. It's a shame that we can't bike that way more often!

OK, the garden seems to be doing well. In fact, I think we might try to leave the house one morning and find that our path is blocked by killer tomatoes. Patrick thinks that the soil that we used to fill the boxes is akin to vegetable crack. He may be right! All the food that we have picked from the garden so far has been delicious! Herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers, sugar snap peas, lettuce. Still waiting on the corn, peppers, eggplant and melon...
